Crates, coins and gems
Coins come from clearing waves; buy more at 3,000 coins for 159 Robux or 10,000 for 399. The Spider Crate runs 90% / 9.8% / 0.2% and the 0.2% slot is TV Spider. Gems come from Quests, which unlock at 20+ wins.
Cameraman Tower Defense runs two currencies and a pile of crates, and the prices are refreshingly public. Here is what everything costs, what it rolls, and the order that gets you the most units per Robux or per minute.
Coins: what you earn and what you buy
Coins are the summon currency. You earn them by playing — finishing matches pays coins out, and cleared waves pay the in-match cash you upgrade with — and you can top up from the Shop:
| Bundle | Price |
|---|---|
| 3,000 Coins | 159 Robux |
| 10,000 Coins | 399 Robux |
The 10,000 bundle is the better rate, but the earn-it-in-game route is real: the banner rolls at 49.9% on a basic pull, so even a short session moves your roster.
Crates: the three kinds
| Crate | Bought with | Drop table |
|---|---|---|
| Scientist Crate | Coins / Robux | The crate that was live before October's rework |
| Spider Crate | Gems (Shop) | 90% / 9.8% / 0.2% — the 0.2% is TV Spider, 10,000 DPS AOE |
| Woman Crate | Free — drops from matches | Camera, Speaker and TV Woman; the crate itself is a rare match drop |
The Spider Crate is the newest money sink and the one with a published ceiling: TV Spider at 0.2% is the single highest damage number in the game. Buy buttons come in Buy 1 / Buy 3 / Buy 10 tiers, so you can chase with singles or commit with a ten-pack.

Gems: the quest loop
Gems arrived with the October update, and there is exactly one free source: Quests. The Quests tab (labelled 20+ Wins Quests in the lobby menu) unlocks once you have won 20 matches, and completing quests pays gems. Gems buy Spider Crates. There is no shortcut — the loop is wins → quests → gems → crates.
Robux: what is actually worth buying
| Item | Price | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| New Mythics Pack (the three October Mythics) | 1,000 Robux | The fastest roster jump in the game, if you want it |
| 2x Speed pass | 99 Robux | Cheapest comfort buy — halves the wait on long waves |
| Skip Wave / Auto Skip passes | varies | For farming already-solved waves |
| Coin bundles | 159 / 399 Robux | Only worth it if you are chasing a specific banner pull |

The 2x speed purchase is the one that changes how the game feels. Long defenses stop dragging, and every pass is a one-time buy, not a subscription.
Trading: your cards are money
The lobby has a Trading menu, and it works like a card binder: open a trade, put up units (or gems — they are tradeable too), and other players answer. The economy around it is real — offers get named after the biggest pulls, and a Titan Cameraman is the classic ask.

Trading is also the honest way to fill gaps the crates will not. No Spider yet? Trade for one, if you have something worth a Spider.
The efficient spend order
- Redeem every open code first. Free coins with zero risk — the list is on the codes page.
- Summon with earned coins until you have a Scientist and a couple of damage units.
- Max what you own before buying more. Upgrades cost in-match cash, not Robux.
- Play toward 20 wins to switch on Quests and start banking gems.
- Chase the Spider Crate with those gems, and keep matches going for Woman Crate drops.
- Only then consider Robux — and if you do, speed first, packs second.
New to the spending loop entirely? The beginner guide puts this order into a first-session plan.
